Spring, what a wonderful time of the year. As we transition from winter to spring, we appreciate the beautiful colors, we enjoy spending time in outdoor activities and also breathing in fresh air from open windows. During this time of year, many of us also think of spring cleaning. This can be an overwhelming task but is one that can provide many benefits. The laundry room is a room that gets frequent use but is often neglected when it comes to cleaning, and can greatly benefit from a good spring cleaning.

  • Wash and dry any dirty laundry, fold and put away.

  • Organize the area by clearing away any unused, expired or unnecessary items. Sort remaining items and store in storage containers or bins.

  • Wipe down the exterior of the appliances, any countertops and shelving, as well as, scrub the sink.

  • Empty the trash can and/or add a trash can for lint, dryer sheets and other debris.

  • Clean the dryer vent which could eliminate fire hazards and excessive dust in the home. Wipe down the inside of the dryer and vacuum behind the dryer.

  • Clean the washing machine interior by using a product such as Washer Magic which removes washing machine odor from a stinky washer. It cleans deep inside the drum to remove detergent residue and foulness left behind by laundry. Vacuum behind the washing machine.

  • Shake out and wash any rugs.

  • Sweep and mop or vacuum the floor. Dust the base boards and any pictures or ceiling fan.

  • Clean the windows and wipe down the blinds or shake out the window treatments.

With a little bit of planning, a few common household products, and a couple hours of your time, your laundry room can be spruced up, organized and receive the benefits of a good spring cleaning.
